PLG Meeting

Attendees: Nicole Pagowsky, Rachel Cannady, Sho Ikeda, Amy Chenail, Lisa Dillivan, Steven Phalen, Jacy Bell
 
1.       Announcements
a.       Of Friends and Whirlwinds Event at Dry River went well. Dry River asked if we would be interested in organizing their library. Anyone who is interested will go to their weekly meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 14 May at 7pm.
b.      We submitted “freeganism” and “bollywood films” for the Library of Congress subject heading/cross reference blogging party through the Radical Reference Blog.
2.       Officer Updates
a.       Rachel – Vice President/Treasurer
i.                    PLG made $20 at the yoga fundraiser.
ii.                  PLG now has a checkbook.
b.      Sho – Webmaster
i.                    The deadline for the newsletter has been moved to 2 June 2008.
·         Limit book recommendations to 3 per person.
·         Limit class recommendation to 1 per person.
3.      Summer Meetings
a.      Meetings will continue to be held on Tuesdays at 5:15pm for now.
b.      The next meeting will be 27 May, followed by one on 3 June.
4.      Summer Goals
a.      Workshops/Skill shares
1.      PLG will prepare a copyright workshop for the fall.
2.      Steven and Lisa volunteered to help on this project.
b.      Zine Fest
1.      Project manager - Nicole; Team - Amy and Rachel
c.       Panel Discussion: What is Progressive Librarianship?
1.      Hold in September.
2.      Project manager – Rachel; Team – Nicole, Lisa
3.      The following faculty members will be asked to participate, speaking for 10-15 minutes each: Tom Wilding, Mary Feeney, Kay Matthiesen, Margaret Higgins, Jana Bradley, Hong Cui, Heshan Sun.
4.      The event may be held in the evening at the Library in room A313 or as a brown bag.
5.      Rachel will create a page on the wiki for this.
d.      Lost Film Fest
1.      Project Manager – Jacy; Team – Rebecca Bliquez
2.      Jacy will contact the School of Media Arts to collaborate on this project.
e.      Website
1.      No progress with Martin Fricke; Sho will continue to contact him.
5.      IRLS 504 Sessions
a.      Dine Around is on the first day; Nicole, Sho, and Jacy will be available to attend.
b.      Student organization presentations at Welcome Dinner; Nicole, Sho, Jacy and Amy will be available to attend.
c.       Any necessary changes for the PLG brochure must be made by the 1st session – 8 June.
d.      A Jamba Juice fundraiser will be held during both sessions: Wednesday, 11 June and Monday, 4 August.
i.                    Jacy will create the flyers and set the dates with Jamba Juice manager.
ii.                  Rachel will give Jacy PLG’s tax identification number to complete the necessary forms.
